Oria vs Sailsense Analytics

Sailsense is a Brussels company selling a hub that reads the NMEA 2000 bus, logs trips automatically and schedules maintenance on real usage. That is close enough to our description that this page has to be a grid rather than an argument. It is the hardest comparison we publish, and the one where you should read both columns.

The short version

This is the closest fight on our comparison pages and we are not going to spin it. Sailsense reads the same bus, logs trips automatically and generates maintenance from real usage, exactly as we do. They have a free tier we cannot match, a Zigbee sensor range and a digital switching product we do not sell at all. Where we differ is in what you can find out before you buy: they publish no price for the hub, no IP rating, and no self-serve export. We publish our subscription, our hardware terms, an IP65 housing, CSV and an API. If those are your criteria, we win. If you want sensors, switching and a free way to start, they do.

Choose Sailsense if

  • You want to start for nothing. Their Basic tier is 0 EUR per year and we publish no free tier at all.
  • You want wireless sensors around the boat: smoke, water ingress, hatches, motion. We sell none.
  • You want to switch circuits remotely. Their Powerail product does that and we have no equivalent.
  • You need alerting that still fires with no connectivity. Their no-go zones run on the hub itself with an onboard buzzer.
  • You run charter turnovers and want digital check-in and check-out with photos and signatures built in.
  • You want a connectivity fallback through Starlink or an onboard router over Ethernet. Our box is 4G only.
  • You want their AI assistant, or the wider system they are building around the hub.

Choose Oria if

  • You want to know the full cost before you commit. They publish no price for the hub, the cabling kit, the sensors or Powerail.
  • You need the data out of the platform on your own terms, as CSV or through a documented API, without asking an account manager.
  • You want fleet reporting you can run yourself rather than a report built for you.
  • You need an IP65 housing with a published temperature range, rather than a hub that must live in a dry interior space.
  • You want French-language support and documentation, from a French company.
  • You need zone rules on speed and time spent, not only entering and leaving.
  • Your engines also speak NMEA 0183.

Sailsense

  • Basic 0 EUR, Starter 120 EUR, Pro 300 EUR, all per year.
  • Usage-based maintenance and geofencing begin at the Pro tier.
  • Zigbee sensors are an add-on at 120 EUR per year on top of Pro.
  • The hub itself has no published price. Their shop link returns an error and Powerail is quote on request.
  • All plans are billed annually. No monthly option and no exit terms are published.

Their Pro tier at 300 EUR per year is below Oria Pro at 348 EUR per year, so on subscription alone they are cheaper. The figure you cannot obtain from their website is the hardware, which makes a year-one total impossible to compute from published sources on their side and possible on ours. We have not converted between VAT bases here because Sailsense does not state one.
