Every dispute is one person's word against another's.
Fuel at handover, damage nobody admits to, a boat that went somewhere the contract did not allow. Without a record, each of these costs you either money or a customer, and often both.
Fuel arguments at handover
The tank looks lower than it should and there is no way to settle it. Consumption measured on the engine, per hire, ends the discussion with a number.

A hull crosses into water your insurance does not cover and you find out weeks later, if at all.
